Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices American cheese
- Shack Sauce (1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp mustard, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce and tomato for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- While the grill is heating, shape the ground beef into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.
- Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading Shack Sauce on the bottom half of the bun, adding the lettuce and tomato, then placing the cheesy patty on top. Cap with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Shake Shack burger!

Handy Tips
- For best results, use fresh ground beef with a good fat content (80/20) for juiciness.
- Don’t press down on the patties while cooking; this will release juices and make them dry.
- Let the burgers rest for a minute after cooking to help retain moisture.
Ingredient Swaps
- Ground Beef: Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- American Cheese: Substitute with cheddar or any cheese of your choice.
- Buns: Whole wheat or gluten-free buns can be used for healthier alternatives.
